Red Energy Arena (Bendigo Stadium Limited) today announced that CEO Dennis Bice will retire at the end of his three-year contract with the organisation at the end of October 2024.
Bice has had an illustrious career, dedicated to Bendigo business and community engagement.
Beginning in 1975 with his first role at Bendigo Bank in the mailroom, Bice spent 41 years at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank in various roles.
“I’ve been really lucky to have the career I’ve had,” said Bice.
“I did actually retire for 11 months after the bank – I didn’t handle that very well at all, so this is a test for me this time around!”
Following on from his incredibility successful years at the Bank, Bice has been a pivotal business figure in Bendigo, holding positions at AFL Central Victoria, Be.Bendigo and most recently, Red Energy Arena.
“I’ve been given a lot of opportunities along the way, and the support from the people I’ve worked with over the years has been very much appreciated.
“What we’ve been able to do with Red Energy Arena in the past three years is amazing.”
“I want to thank everyone who has contributed significantly to the success of our organisation over the past few years.
“I’m grateful to all our staff, volunteers, partners and stakeholders, and want to thank the City of Greater Bendigo for their support, and also our board.”
“This is a place where people want to be and that’s what we’ve always wanted to create – an environment where people felt like they were missing out if they weren’t here.
“That’s what we’ve been able to do.”
In addition to his business career in Benigo, Bice has been heavily involved in local cricket and footy, and is currently a board member at Harness Racing Victoria – something which he intends to continue following his retirement.
“It’s been a privilege to serve our wonderful community over the years and as I look to the future, I’m excited to continue to be part of this community.”
Bendigo Stadium Limited Chair, Stacie Wright expressed gratitude for Bice’s strong leadership during his time as CEO.
“I wish to thank Dennis for his contributions to the organisation over the past three years,” said Wright.
“Dennis had a strong vision from the start, and we have seen a noticeable shift in the types of events and large sporting tournaments that we host.
“We are very grateful for everything Dennis has achieved over his time and on behalf of the board, we wish him all the best for his retirement.”
Bendigo Stadium Limited is committed to continuing the legacy of excellence that Dennis has established.
The Board is currently in the process of identifying a successor to lead the organisation in its next chapter, with the recruitment process beginning this week.
